AIX Version 4.3.3
After migrating to AIX 4.3.3, installing 4.3.3.03, and rebooting the machine, the console is white. Running cfgmgr returns the error message that the graphics adapter is missing the device dependent software. Running lscfg shows the GXT800P is not available. Running lsdisp and lsdev -Cc <adapter> returns nothing.
For example, after entering lslpp -l | grep devices.pci.14105e00, you see the following output:
devices.pci.14105e00.rte 4.3.3.10 devices.pci.14105e00.diag 4.3.3.10 devices.pci.14105e00.X11 4.3.3.10 OpenGL.OpenGL_X.dev.pci.14105e00.PPC_mp 4.3.3.10 PEX_PHIGS.dev.pci.14105e00 4.3.3.10
The only way to recover from this problem is to force-overwrite the devices.pci.14105e00.all filesets down to base level and reboot the machine. At this point, you will have the functionality of the console. After rebooting, you can reinstall the devices.pci.14105e00.all filesets from the 4.3.3.03 ML and reboot the machine.
In addition, the following filesets may not be present:
OpenGL.OpenGL_X.dev.pci.14105e00.PPC_mp 4.3.3.10 PEX_PHIGS.dev.pci.14105e00 4.3.3.10
The preceding filesets are not installed with a default installation. If you intend
to use OpenGL or PEX_PHIGS applications, you will have to install these filesets.
