Restoring libc.a in Maintenance from Install CD-ROM

Environment

OS Level: 4.2.1
Type/Model: 380

Problem

The libc.a file is of 0 length and none of the commands work.

Solution

The libc.a file must be restored from the install CD-ROM.

Boot from the install CD-ROM. Then access rootvg before mounting the filesystem: 

	mount /dev/hd4 /mnt
	mount /dev/hd2 /mnt/usr
	cd /mnt
	restbyname -xvqf /SPOT/usr/sys/inst.images/bos ./usr/lib/libc.a 
./usr/ccs/lib/libc.a

This process will restore the libc.a file.
