4.3.x man Page Problems

Problems

The following problems may occur when using AIX Version 4.3.x man pages.

1. The message, Remote Search in Progress displays.
2. After entering the man command, the process hangs and does not return to the prompt.
3. After entering the man command, the process only returns to the prompt.

Solution

All the problems listed are a direct result of the network not functioning properly. In most cases, the name server in the /etc/resolv.conf file is incorrect or is not reachable. If the machine is configured to the network but is not actually hooked up to the network, this will cause problems as well.
