Robust collection of tools and libraries to read, write, and manipulate an image in many image formats (over 87 major formats) including popular formats like TIFF, JPEG, PNG, PDF, PhotoCD, and GIF.

On HP-UX (at least), in configure change all rm -f to rm -rf, otherwise sizeof() will fail. 
   configure --prefix=/tmp/ImageMagick-6.2.9 ...other options...
