Filename: UE100M100002.EXE For: UIS Version 1.00 on MetaFrame Version 1.0 Replaces: None Language supported: English (US) Description ----------- This hotfix allows the administrator to limit the number of UIS connections per X terminal. The limit acts in addition to any other limits such as the number of configured connections or the number of licenses. Installation Instructions for the UE100M100002 Hotfix ----------------------------------------------------- 1. Copy UE100M100002.EXE to an empty directory on your hard disk and execute the command: UE100M100002 2. Execute the following command to install the Hotfix on your system: HOTFIX /I 3. Shut down and restart your computer. After applying this hotfix, the administrator can limit the number of UIS connections per X terminal via a new registry value. Upon receiving a request for a new session, UIS will look for a registry value called MaxConnsPerXterm of type REG_DWORD at the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Citrix Unix Integration Services Plx11 If the number of existing connections to the terminal is greater than or equal to MaxConnsPerXterm, the new connection is refused with the error: "Too many connections to same X display" MaxConnsPerXterm is read every time a new connection is requested. Consequently the value is dynamic in the sense that the administrator can change the value without having to reboot the server. Further, if the value is lowered, no sessions will be forcibly terminated. If MaxConnsPerXterm does not exist or is not of type REG_DWORD, the connection limit logic is bypassed. Therefore administrators who choose to ignore this new feature will see no change of behaviour.
